PA Burial - 21 October 1953, Wellsboro Cemetery ABRAMS, Peter L. [SRGP 31693] - Mr. Peter L. Abrams passed away at his home at 51 S. Main Street in Mansfield, Sunday afternoon, October 18. He is survived by his wife, Lora Bailey Abrams. He was the son of George and Martha Abrams. Born at Blackwell, PA, he moved, as a small child, to Wellsboro where he attended school. After graduating from high school there, he moved to East Charleston, where a few years late he married Lora Bailey. He soon returned to Wellsboro and was employed in the Hardware Store of R.W. Bailey. Later he had a 5 and 10 business in Coudersport, and then a Hardware Store in Johnson City, NY. In 1928 he came to Mansfield to run the Ben Franklin Store, which was purchased from Percy Wilson. In 1932 he built the home where he resided at the time of his death. Relatives: Mrs. Ed Hillman of Elkland, Mylon Abrams of Buffalo, NY and Mrs. Mary Lechnere of Montoursville. Other relatives are Mr. & Mrs. Emory Rockwell, Mrs. Frank Pagan, Mr. & Mrs. Ward Bastian, Mrs. Cathryn Linn of Wellsboro, Mr. & Mrs. Donald Rockwell of Banger and Mr. & Mrs. Frank Siebert of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Mansfield Methodist Church. The funeral was held at the house, Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Stanley C. Robinson officiating. - Mansfield Advertiser, 21 October 1953, p.4 |
