Lloyd E. (Doc) Austin, 86, of Elmira, N.Y., formerly of Pinnacle Towers, Wellsboro, died Tuesday, March 1, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira. Born April 24, 1901, in Sullivan Township, he was the son of Alvin B. and Ida Robbins Austin. He was formerly employed by the former Mansfield State College and worked as a sheet metal worker and plumber in the Mansfield area. He was also employed by the U.S. Air Force in Plattsburg, N.Y. for 10 years, retiring in 1961. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Whitneyville. His wife, Margaret Hager Austin, predeceased him in 1984. Surviving are his two sons, Lyle Austin of Millerton and Dale Austin of Elmira, N.Y., two daughters, Mrs. Caroline (Fred) Miller of Elmira, N.Y., and Mrs. Leona Sempler of Millerton; 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Scureman Funeral Home, 130 South Main Street, Mansfield, Thursday, March 3, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral will follow calling hours at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. George Evans officiating. Burial will be made in the Mainesburg Cemetery.
