BAILEY, James Joseph [SRGP 87006] - James J. Bailey, aged 35 years, of Mansfield, prominent in sports activities, was found under a truck in the T.W. Judge Company garage at 8:15 a.m. Thursday. Miss Mary Seely, of Wellsboro, Deputy Coroner, said death was caused by carbon monoxide gas and the Bailey had died through means of his own invention. Richard Smith, a Judge Company employee, found the body. Associates said Bailey had complained of being ill Wednesday afternoon, but could advance no cause for his action. He had been employed by a Mansfield news agency since he was 14 years of age. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Blossburg, and Mansfield Hose Company. He was graduated from the Mansfield High School and had been active in baseball, both as a player and official. He was born in Leetonia, son of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Bailey. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Wade Goodall, of Mansfield; two brothers, Leo, of New York City, and Edward, of Mansfield. - Wellsboro Agitator, 28 May 1941, p.5 |
