CLARK, Budd Melvin [SRGP 76541] - Budd M. Clark, 97, a well-known Wysox area businessman and community leader, died peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Budd was born on Oct. 21, 1916 in Mansfield, Pa., the son of Budd A. Clark and Ella Louise Bates Clark. An Eagle Scout, Budd graduated from Mansfield High School and continued his education at Mansfield State College obtaining a degree in education. He would later receive a degree in agriculture from Penn State University. In his early years, Budd worked on the docks in Philadelphia as a fruit inspector, and later taught for the Allentown Area School District. He also was the general manager of several GLF locations throughout New York State. Relocating from Mansfield to Wysox in 1946, Budd became the general manager of West Motors, owned by his brother-in-law Stuart West. On June 12, 1950, Budd married the former Almeda Brown in Franklindale. This past June, Budd and Almeda celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. In 1956, Budd founded Clark Furniture and Carpetland a successful business he actively operated for over 50 years. Budd was a very active member of the community, serving as President of the Towanda Area School Board for many years, the Central Bradford County Chamber of Commerce, which recently presented Budd with the "Old Faithful" lifetime achievement award, the Blue Lodge of the Masonic Temple; obtaining the 32nd degree, Oddfellows, Shriners, and the Rotary Club. Budd also held the position of Bradford County Republican Committeeman for over 40 years. Budd was also a devoted, long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Towanda. An avid sports enthusiast, Budd was often seen jogging across Veteran's Memorial Bridge well into his eighties. Budd enjoyed traveling, history, and studying Latin. Budd was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed. Surviving in addition to his wife Almeda Brown Clark of Wysox, are his sons, Budd W. Clark of Wysox, Tim Clark and his wife Elyse of Towanda; daughters, Rebecca Clark of Franklindale and Sarah Clark Burlingame and her husband Ron of Towanda; his grandchildren, David and Adam, Heather, Kevin, Erica, Jordan and Nolan, Ronnie, Blake, Trey, and Lincoln; his great-grandchildren, Casey, Seth Alex, and Rylan, Owen and Landon, Breanna and Addison; and his great-great grandson, Weston. In addition to his parents, Budd was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Sara Clark West and Stuart West of Mansfield; his granddaughter, Brittany Anne Burlingame; and great-granddaughter, Brynn Mae Burlingame. A celebration of Budd's life will be held beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Towanda. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. at the church until the time of the service. Interment will be private in the Wysox Cemetery.
