Crossley, Mansfield Burial - Mansfield 23 November 1926 CROSSLEY, Robert [SRGP 83181] - Robert Crossley, aged 90 years, one of Mansfield's oldest and most respected citizens, died Nov. 22. He was born in England September 19, 1836. In 1859 he married Miss Nannie Barrett. In 1862, Mr. Crossley and his family came to America and for about five years he worked in various places until in 1867, when he removed to Mansfield and took charge of the Morris farms. In 1870 he purchased about four acres of land, where the Crossley greenhouses are now located, which he made into a market garden. He made a success of this and in 1874 purchased of Hon. Simon B. Elliott the first greenhouse property anywhere in the county. Mr. Crossley had been quite active until recently. He is survived by one son, W.C. Crossley, one daughter, Miss Mary Crossley, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Rev.
