Decker, Join in Matrimony Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Mary Theresa Barrett, daughter of Mrs. Peter Edward Barrett, 42 Seventh Ave., Carbondale, and the late Mr. Barrett, to Walter Merle Decker, son of Mrs. Fred R. Decker, Mansfield, and the late Mr. Decker, which took place recently in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Rev. William J. Fleming performed the ceremony before and altar banked with gold vases filled with white gladioli and huckleberry leaves. White bows marked the pews. Given in marriage by her nephew, John Girard Moran, the bride wore a gown of white Chantilly lace styled with high scoop neckline, long tapering sleeves and fitted bodice with natural waistline over a silk peau d’ sole skirt accented with Chantilly lace appliques. A large peau d’ sole bow at the center back waistline released Chantilly lace appliqued streamers over the bell silhouette skirt. Her four-tiered veil of French illusion was arranged from a peau d’ sole and Chantilly lace leaf open crown. She wore a single strand of cultured pearls, a gift of the bridegroom, and carried a bouquet of white orchids and English ivy. Mrs. Daniel Sullivan, Oneonta, NY, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a Celedon imported silk brocade gown with jeweled neckline, brief-sleeved overblouse and floor-length sheath skirt. Her matching pillbox headpiece featured a veil. She wore long white gloves, a gift of the bride, and carried an arrangement of green fuji mums and English ivy. Ludwig Kunzman, this city, was best man. Thomas Dolph, Archibald, and Edward Redding, Bethlehem, ushered. Dinner for 150 guests followed at the Town and Country Supper Club where a reception was held later. The bride’s mother wore a romance blue street-length dress with handclipped lace bodice and sheath crepe skirt, royal blue feathered hat and matching accessories. The bridegroom’s mother wore a street-length dress of autumn green crepe and lace with brown hat and accessories. Both wore whit orchid corsages. When the couple left on a wedding trip to California, the bride wore an emerald green jersey sheath dress with brown accessories and corsage of brown orchids. Mr. & Mrs. Decker are residing at 302 Clay Ave. The bride, who was feted at several prenuptial parties, is an alumna of St. Rose High School, Carbondale, and is employed by the U.S. Government at Tobyhanna Army Depot. Mr. Decker is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University where he received a bachelor of science degree and is employed by the U.S. Government, U.S. General Accounting Office, Philadelphia. DECKER, Walter Merle – Walter M. Decker, 204 S. Washington Ave., Jermyn, died Tuesday morning in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was the husband of the former Mary Barrett. Born in Mansfield, son of the late Fred and Ada Jones Decker, he was employed by the U.S. Accounting Office as an auditor, prior to his retirement. Surviving are a brother, Charles, Oxford, NY; a sister, Dora Rarrick, Horseheads, NY, nieces and nephews. Cremation took pace in Maple Hill Crematory, Wilkes-Barre. Arrangements by the Battenberg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., Jermyn.
