ALFRED GOULD (SRGP 13703) Alfred Gould, 82, RD 1, Mansfield, PA died Saturday, August 10, 1991 at home. He was born May 26, 1909 in Roseville, PA, son of George and Bertha Brace Gould. He was a 14-year employee of the former Ingersoll-Rand Co. in Painted Post, NY, retiring in 1970, and a substitute rural mail carrier in the Mansfield area in the 50's and 60's. He also had owned and operated a lawn mower repair service at his residence in the 1950's. He is survived by sons, John of Williamstown, NJ and Alfred of Alta Loma, CA; daughter, Karen Contreras of Colton, CA; sister, Mrs. Blanche Gustin of Troy; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Scureman Funeral Home in Mansfield on August 13 with burial to be in Watson Cemetery in Roseville, PA. (TGR, Thursday, August 15, 1991) As for the Alfred Gould (1909-1991) group.... Alfred married Aldine J Rathbun of Tioga (1914-1988). They divorced in the mid 1960's and Aldine married a Larry Whitehill in San Bernardino CA in c. 1980. Aldine died in California in 1988. (I have heard 'rumor' that before Alfred married Aldine, he was married to 'Arliss' and they had a son 'George'... I am currently searching that thread.) As for the three children of Aldine and Alfred Gould Alfred Gould JR, c. March 1943, married Catherine LeMoy (NY) and they are currently living in Flagstaff AZ. They have two sons, Steven b. Mar 1970 and David b. Aug 1971. Steven was married and has a son Whitney c. 1996. Steven and his wife are divorced, and I shall supply you with her name. etc in a later post. Karen Gould b. 1945, Karen was married and has a daughter Adrene. I am still trying to remember the name of Karens husband but I will supply you with a full and complete family group sheet John Phillip Gould b. Nov 1946 married Deborah Griesemer (PA, b 1947) I use the term 'currently' because we often are living out of the United States, but Santa Barbara is our base. This past year we had a residence in Hong Kong and Toyko and a HOME in Santa Barbara...John has been in 'computers' since 1965 and that has been the reason for the 'travel'. AMERICAN LEGION SCHOOL AWARD MEDAL PRESENTED Boys at Covington and Mansfield Receive Honors Austin-Cox Post of the American Legion is inaugurating a policy of awarding a medal each year to the boy of the graduating class of the Grammar School at Covington and Mansfield who represents the highest qualities of character and ability. The selection is made by the classes concerned and the teachers. The fundamental qualities which are considered as a basis for selection are honor, courage, leadership, service and scholarship. The Legion feels that it can devote itself to no higher purpose than that of cultivating high character and wholesome ideals in the youth coming into citizenship. The prime purpose of the award is to encourage every boy to be a better American and to grow up a better citizen. DeWayne Mays won the medal at the Covington School. The presentation was made at the high school commencement last Friday evening. Alfred Gould has been selected to receive the medal at Mansfield. The presentation will be made Friday afternoon this week at the Junior High Commencement. (handwritten on article May 23, 1924) 1940 census - Construction laborer |
