HAGAR - Claude Willard - Claude W. Hagar, 86, of 1217 Mulberry St., Montoursville and a guest at Valley View Nursing Center, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at the home. He was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Richmond Township, Tioga, Pa., a son of Claude L. and Jennie Bly Hagar. Claude retired in 1983 from Edwards Motor Transit, where he worked as a bus mechanic, and had also worked for Susquehanna Transit. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, and was a member of the V.F.W Post No. 6757 in Mansfield. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Montoursville; the Eureka Lodge No. 335 and the Williamsport Consistory. He enjoyed woodworking and watching sports on T.V. Claude was married to C. Esther Egli, with whom he was married to for 54 years. Surviving, besides his wife, are nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by ten brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Rev. James R. Bramer officiating. Interment will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at Bethany Lutheran Church, 369 Broad St., Montoursville, PA 17754. |
