HOUSEL - Purley A. Housel Sr., 70, of Wellsboro RR7 died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at home. Born Jan. 16, 1928, in Wellsboro, he was the son of Frank and Florence Graham Housel. He was a life-long resident of the Wellsboro area and was a graduate of Mansfield High School in 1946. He was retired from Agway, Wellsboro, after 33 years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Wellsboro, and the Wellsboro Lions Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an Army veteran serving in World War II. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Maytha Stanford Housel; two sons and daughter-in-law, Purley A. Housel Jr and friend Beth Decker of Wellsboro and Kevin L. and Edie Housel of Okeechobee, Fla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Karol L. and Joseph Hinchey of Smethport; one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy H. and William Haverley of Covington; one brother and sister-in-law, Arthur F. and Eliose Housel of Polk City, Fla.; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald Stanford of Middlebury Center and Donald and Naomi Stanford of Elmira, NY; three grandchildren, Caitlin and Kellie Hinchey and Joshua Housel. Calling hours were held Friday, April 10, at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Wellsboro. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Wellsboro, with the Rev.
