LEWIS - RIEPPEL, Lena (Lewis) [SRGP 08080] Died Sunday, October 22, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul; brothers, John Reid Lewis, Ernest Lewis; sister-in-law, Georgina Lewis; and grandson, Tim Rieppel. She was born March 13, 1917, the only daughter of John D. and Mabel (Snover) Lewis. Lena was a retired kindergarten teacher, well known for her Zoo! She had animals who belonged to her classes and went to school with her at Charlotte Lappla in Wellsboro. She and Paul enjoyed many years traveling, camping, and spending time with all their children, grandchildren and great-grandkids before his death in 2007. She is survived by five children: two sons and three daughters, Barbara and Bird York, Charlotte and Roger Smith, John and Eileen Courtney Rieppel, Dan and Jackie Rieppel, all of Mansfield, PA; a God-daughter, Christine Lewis of Oakland, CA; 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and her very own special angel on earth, daughter, Carolyn Barrows and husband, Jay of Wellsboro, PA; plus all the other angels who helped her so well in the last several years. Lena was well known for her painting and her enthusiasm for the County Fair. She was a 4-H leader and author of the photography and art exhibits at the fair. She was an avid supporter for art in the schools, also. She is painting pictures for Jesus now! Goodbye mom. Friends and neighbors are invited to her services on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will follow the viewing at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James Truax officiating. Burial will be in Tioga County Memorial Gardens, Charleston Twp. Memorial donations can be made to the Tioga County Fair Association, c/o Anne Clark, 3795 Rt. 549, Mansfield, PA 16933.
