Simmons, Bradford, PA Burial - Prospect, 6 February 1962 LOWNSBERRY, Edith A. [SRGP 89972] - Miss Edith A. Lownsberry, 88, of Bradford, PA, formerly of Mansfield, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 1962. She was a member of the Mansfield Baptist Church, DAR, Columbian Literary Exchange and was a retired school teacher. Survived by nephews, Arthur Simmons of Bradford and Frederick Simmons of New York City; nieces, Mrs. J. George Cunningham of Neptune, NJ and Miss Edith Simmons of West Chester. Funeral was held at Shaw & Robena Funeral Home, Mansfield Tuesday at 2 p.m., the Rev. David Griffiths officiated. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery. Miss Lownsberry was the daughter of Isaac P. and Loretta Cass Lownsberry. She attended local public school and graduated from Mansfield State Normal School in 1892 and the Posse Gymnasium School of Boston, Mass. She taught in public schools in Tioga County and was a gymnasium teacher at the Normal School. She also taught Physical Education in Cleveland Schools for many years, where she became Supervisor of Physical Education. - Mansfield Advertiser, 7 February 1962, p.4 |
