McCartney - 14 January 1948, California [place not listed or UNK] 1936 – Robert Merritt Owen = 92756 Mansfield Advertiser, PA, 21 January 1948, Wednesday, p.1 Bob Owen Weds California Girl The marriage of Miss Marguerite Catherine McCartney, daughter of Mrs. William McCartney, of 2631 Golden Ave., Long Beach, Calif., and the late Mr. McCartney, to Robert Merritt Owen, son of Mrs. Ray Owen, of Mansfield, took place Jan. 11, 1948, in Long Beach, Calif. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, John Kennedy. She wore a gown of ivory satin fashioned with a bustle and train. Her fingertip veil was caught to a tiara of orange blossoms and she carried a prayer book with cluster of camellias. Mrs. Robert Tyo, of Long Beach, was matron of honor and Miss Lillian McCartney, maid of honor. Both wore aqua gowns and carried tulips in frills of fuchsia tulle. Best man was Dean Garth Sunderland and ushers were George Tyo and Clete J. West. A reception followed the ceremony at the home of Mrs. Tyo, with Mrs. John Kennedy, Mrs. Thomas Coulthard, the Misses Ada and Kathryn Kennedy and Mary Lee Leiser as co-hostess. Miss Helen Louis was in charge of the guest book. After a honeymoon trip to San Francisco, the couple will be at home in Long Beach.
