Find a Grave Claude N. Palmer – b. 8 September 1931, Mainesburg, PA; d. 4 October 2012, Waverly, Tioga Co., NY; Burial – UNK PALMER,Claude N. [SRGP 29009] - Claude N. Palmer, 81, of Waverly, N.Y. died at his home on Thursday night, Oct. 4, 2012 following a long illness. He was born in Mainesburg to Claude C. and Gladys Spaulding Palmer on Sept. 8, 1931. Claude is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Lou Severn Palmer at home; his children, Tom (Kim) Palmer of Waverly, N.Y., Beverlee Wheeler of Waverly, N.Y., Lisa (Bob) Nocchi of Waverly, N.Y., Vicky (Andrew) Hickey of Sayre, Maryanne Geiss of Waverly, N.Y. and Scott (Penney) Geiss of East Smithfield; his sisters, Betty Spencer of Heathsville, Va. and Claudia (Roy) Johnson of Tucson, Ariz.; his brother Carl Palmer of Lakeland, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Severn of Waverly, N.Y.; and his brothers-in-law, Gary Severn and Randy Severn, both of Sayre. Claude is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his close friend, Ted Chacona, as well as Claude's constant companion, his dog, Missy. He is predeceased by his parents, his son Gary, and his sisters, Audrey Clark, Mildred Shelman, and Kay Meisel. Claude started Palmer Mobile Homes in 1961 on Rt. 17C in Waverly, NY and built Holly Park Terrace Manufactured Home Park in Lowman in 1971. Both businesses are now capably run by his children. He was a hard worker, dedicated to his manufactured home business, retiring in 2006 because of declining health. As one manufacturer's representative said, "He doesn't say much, he just keeps selling those homes." He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954, serving in Key West, Fla., Norfolk, Va., and Groton, Conn., where he witnessed the launching of the Nautilus, the first nuclear submarine. Claude and his wife, Mary Lou, enjoyed traveling across the United States. He enjoyed music and particularly enjoyed trips to Branson, Mo. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens.
