PALMER, Harriet Louise [SRGP 8665] H. Louise Palmer Harris, age 85 of Roseville, PA; Thursday, January 4, 1996 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. She was born June 24, 1910 in Mansfield, PA, the daughter of Lewis M. & Blanche Hanyen Palmer. Louise was a retired school teacher having taught in Mosherville, PA and Pine City, NY for several years. She graduated from Mansfield High School in 1926 and from Mansfield State Teachers College in 1929. She attended New York University in New York City and earned her Masters degree at Elmira College in 1966. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association, Twilight Chapter #475 O.E.S., Past Regent and member of the Wellsboro Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, former state officer and local President of the Colonial Dames, 17th Century, a member of the Daughters of American Colonists, the Tioga County Historical Society, the Twin Tiers Genealogical Society, the Wednesday Morning Musicales, and the Mansfield 55 Plus Club. She was an active member and very vital part of the Roseville United Methodist Church, holding offices, teaching Sunday School, directing the choir, and playing piano and organ for 53 years. She encouraged young and old to explore and experience new adventure, to use ones abilities to their fullest, to be absolutely dependable, and to enjoy music and make it a vital part of ones life. Louise was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Thomas G. Harris on June 15, 1987. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Bud Baker of Anchor Point, AK, Anne and Philip Clark of Roseville, PA, Alene and Roger York of Roseville, PA, and Ellen Cobourn of Spokane, WA; almost daughter, Mrs. Reginald [Gretchen] Westlake of Millerton, PA; grandchildren, Thomas Baker of Lancaster, CA, Robert Baker of Anchorage, AK, Eric Baker of Long Beach, CA, Shawn Baker of Camarillo, CA, Colleen Sparkman of Florence, OR, Jeannie Hocker of Arnot, PA, Janelle Davis of Middlebury Center, PA, Timothy Clark of Goldsboro, NC, Martin Clark of Marquette, MI, Thomas Clark of Bellevue, WA, Travis York of Roseville, PA, Jennie York of Bellevue, WA, and Marie York of Roseville, PA. Almost grandchildren, Bruce Westlake, Susan Gilbert, Richard Westlake, Betty Reist, Roberts Jo Jones and David Westlake; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 nieces and nephews. Friends may visit the family at the Roseville United Methodist Church on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Funeral services and O.E.S. services will be held there on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. James F. Bellamy O.S.L. officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY.
