Elmira Star-Gazette, NY, 27 July 1939, Thursday, p.2 Halstead – Palmer Mansfield – Mr. & Mrs. H.L. Halstead of Factoryville, PA, have announced the marriage of their daughter, Evelyn Mae, to S. Mark Palmer, son of Mrs. Ida Palmer and the late Willis Palmer of New York City and Mansfield. The ceremony was performed Tuesday, July 25 [1939], at the Greenridge Baptist Church in Scranton. For three years Mrs. Palmer has been a member of the faculty of the Mansfield State Teachers College. She also works closely with the State Department of Education at Harrisburg in supervision of home economics teachers in seven counties in Pennsylvania. She will continue her duties at the college in the fall. Mrs. Palmer holds a master’s degree in home economics supervision, having received her training at the Mansfield State Teachers College, Columbia University and Colorado University. Mr. Palmer, native of Elmira, has spent most of his life in New York City, where he received his education at the College of the City of New York. For several years he has been active in hotel operation in New York City, Florida and the tropics. He recently purchased the Mansfield Hotel, which has been renamed the Penn-Marlyn. Mr. & Mrs. Palmer will live in an apartment in the hotel.
