DAVID PARKER (Col.) was born in Virginia. He enlisted Sept 8th 1862 as a private in Co. H, U.S. Col. Inf., and was honorably discharged Oct. 12th 1865. – GAR48 p.237 PARKER, David [SRGP 88460] – David Parker died at the Blossburg hospital July 26 [1918], after a long illness. The funeral was held July 28 from his late home in Mansfield, Rev. Norman J. Mecklem, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating, burial in Prospect cemetery. David Parker was born in the South during the slavery days and was one of the unfortunate who never knew his age. He escaped from slavery during the civil war and joined the Union army. Soon after the war he came to Mansfield, where he had since resided. He gave his children an education in the Mansfield schools, and ever remained one of Mansfield’s good citizens. He is survived by his widow and five children, Belle [Mrs. Peter Green], Anna [Mrs. Walter R. Taylor], and Frances [Mrs. Norris Scott Chaney], all of Elmira; Harry Parker, of Washington, DC, and Mrs. John Green, of Mansfield.
