Elliott, MD, Mansfield, PA The Evening Times, Sayre, PA, 23 January 1945, Tuesday, p.2 Miss Eloise Powers, formerly of Sayre, and Francis Howard of Harrison Valley, were married at the Baptist Church in Wellsboro Jan. 12, 1945. Mrs. Howard is a graduate of the Robert Packer Hospital, class of 1937. For some time following her graduation she was in the Training school office to study pediatrics in the Children’s hospital in Washington, D.C. On her return she was supervisor of the children’s ward at the Packer, a position she held for the past two years. Mr. Howard is a graduate of Mansfield State Teachers College and has been teaching school until recently. After a short wedding trip to Buffalo the couple will reside in Harrison Valley on the farm belonging to Mr. Howard. Howard, who died April 18, 1995. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lewisberry United Methodist Church. Burial will be private in Genesee Cemetery in Genesee. Visitation will be 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Beaver Urich Funeral Home Inc., 305 W. Front St., Lewisberry, in in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Howard was born Sept. 24, 1908 in Mansfield. She was the daughter of the late Fred S. and Mary Jane [Cornwell] Powers. She was a school nurse for Bradford Area School District retiring in 1972. She was also a school nurse for Northern Potter School District in Potter County, Charge nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore during World War II, worked for Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre where she received her nursing degree and was a graduate of Mansfield University. Mrs. Howard is survived by two sons, Paul Alan Howard of Merchantville, NJ and William R. Howard of Lewisberry; two daughters, Dr. Mary Frances Howard of Los Angeles and Marjorie Jeanne Vlasts of Krezletown, VA; none grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
