Redner, age 77, of Norwalk, CT, grandson of the founder of Rorick’s Glen; Friday, April 22, 1994 in the Norwalk Hospital. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Goodridge of Elmira, NY; Aunts: Thelma Redner of Elmira, NY and Alice Redner of Prospect, CT; Niece: Susan LeBaron and her son of Corning, NY; Nephew: F. Lee Goodridge and his family of Marion, NY; and numerous Redner and Rorick cousins. Mr. Redner served in World War II and was a 1939 graduate of Mansfield State Teachers College. He taught music for 45 years in such places as Florida, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Dakota and Iowa. Mr. Redner served as State Director of Music in Delaware and in 1982 retired as assistant music supervisor with the Norwalk, CT schools. In 1984 he suffered a severe stroke, was in a seven month coma and in poor health until the time of his death. Since 1985, Mr. Redner had been a volunteer in the Westport, CT schools and also worked regularly with senior stroke patients and at the Senior Center in Norwalk. In 1989, he gave a presentation on the role of music in the rehabilitation of senior citizens at the Music Educators National Conference in Washington, DC. In 1990, President Bush name Mr. Redner as the 302nd "Daily Point of Light" in honor of American Education Week. He was also given the Helene Curtis Co.’s "People Who Make a Difference" award. In 1993, Mr. Redner was honored by Mansfield University as a member of the music department, Music Honor Roll and given the university’s Elsie Burke Service Award. Mr. Redner recently donated his extensive record collection to the Butler Center Music Library at Mansfield University. Friends are invited to attend a graveside service, Thursday, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery. It was Mr. Redner’s wish that any memorials be made to the Mansfield University Foundation.
