RIEPPEL - Arlene Strailey, 87, of Blossburg, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nev. Arlene Rieppel Strailey was born in Cowanesque, on Jan. 2, 1922, the daughter of the late John and Ethel (Skinner) Rieppel. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Strailey who passed away in 1997. Arlene was employed as assistant librarian at the Blossburg Memorial Library for 15 years until retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Blossburg’s First United Methodist Church. Most important in Arlene’s life was caring for her family and home. She excelled at cooking, sewing and crafts. Arlene also enjoyed reading and gardening. Surviving are her two sons, Donald Strailey of San Francisco and Piers Strailey (Faith Kantor) of Quincy Calif.; two grandsons, Kaarle and Kendaal; a sister, Edith West of Middlebury Center; and a brother, James H. Rieppel. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Donald; four siblings, Edna Locke, Anna Rieppel, and Paul and Perry Rieppel. The family invited friends to call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at Zwicharowski Funeral Home, 314 Granger St, Blossburg. The funeral service was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment followed in Arbon Cemetery. Those who wish may consider a memorial to the Book of Memory, First United Methodist Church, 108 N.
