Contributions: American Lung Association, Wilmington, DE 19806. – The News Journal, Wilmington, DE, 23 April 1998, Thursday, p.3 Mansfield Advertiser, PA, 3 March 1954, Wednesday, p.4 Roberts-Boom Miss Joan Marie Roberts, daughter of Mrs. M.D. Newton and the late Lucius Roberts, 29 South Main St., Mansfield, was married on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 21, 1954, at 1:30 at the Presbyterian Church, Wellsboro, to Gary Boom, son of Mrs. Rhema Boom, and the late S.L. Boom, 18 Charleston Street, Wellsboro. The Rev. W.L. Mark performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with baskets of white snapdragons and white pompons. The bride was given in marriage by her step-father, M.D. Newton. She was attired in a postman blue suit with Navy accessories and wore a white orchid corsage. The bridesmaid, Miss Doris Hutchinson, of Mansfield, wore a blue suit with a yellow rose corsage. Donald Kerrick, brother-in-law of the bridegroom was best man. The bride is a graduate of Mansfield High School and she attended Mansfield State Teachers College. She is employed in the office of the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital. The bridegroom is a graduate of the Wellsboro High School, and is now a junior at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island. The young couple have an apartment at Providence, RI. Mrs. S.L. Boom entertained the wedding party for dinner at the Penn-Wells Hotel Saturday night. |
