Army Served 17 Feb 1941 - 15 Oct 1945 Served Overseas 5 Sep 1943 - 3 Oct 1945 Buried in Glenwood Cemetery RUMSEY, Maurice W. [SRGP 06260] - Maurice W. Rumsey, 82, a retired teacher with Perry Central School, died Saturday, (Jan. 30, 1999) at home. A native of Wheeling, W.Va., Rumsey received a bachelor's degree from Mansfield State University and a master's degree from Syracuse University. He was an earth science and biology teacher at Perry Central for 31 years, retiring in 1977. Rumsey served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army's 19th General Hospital during World War II. He was stationed in England and France. A member of the Baptist Church of Perry, he was a former church deacon and former treasurer of the Christian Education Board. He was a former member of the Camera Club and was an avid painter and wood carver. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Anastasia Rusiniak; a son, Paul of Naples; a daughter, Darlene M. Cohen of King of Prussia, Pa.; three brothers, Jerald of Mansfield, Pa., James of Canton, Pa., and Richard of Anderson, S.C.; three sisters, Elizabeth Seelye of Canton, Lois Peters of Dallas, and Audele N. Longley of Park Forest, Ill.; and two grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Baptist Church of Perry on Main Street.
