SCHANBACHER – Chester A. Schanbacher, 60, of 230 North Main Street, Mansfield, was pronounced dead at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro on Tuesday, July 24, 1979. He suffered a heart attack while at work. Born July 28, 1918 in Liberty, PA, he was a son of Orville and Martha Rauscher Schanbacher. Surviving are: his wife, Theodosia TenEyck Schanbacher; two daughters, Mrs. Dean (JoAnne) Benson of Mansfield and Mrs. Michael (Jean) Grimme of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one son, Allen of Mansfield; one brother, Gerald of Mansfield; three sisters, Mrs. Jamie (Genevieve) Stone of Columbia, SC, Mrs. Carleton (Joyce) Gilbert of Mount Carmel, Conn., and Mrs. William (Pauline) Bradshaw of Mansfield; and 4 grandchildren. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mansfield, a member and Past Noble Grand of the Mansfield IOOF Lodge #526, of Friendship Lodge F & AM #247 of Mansfield, of the Williamsport Consistory, and of the Mansfield and Wellsboro Men’s Choruses. Mr. Schanbacher was a former partner and manager of the Mansfield Novelty Company for many years. He was presently employed by the Chapel Lumber Company of Mansfield. The funeral will be held Friday, July 27, 1979 at 1 PM at the Mansfield Methodist Church with Rev. David L. Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Tioga County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Kuhl Funeral Home, Mansfield, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Thursday, July 26. Masonic services will be held Thursday evening at 8:45 PM at the funeral home. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the First United Methodist Church of Mansfield. |
