Army Served 7 Nov 1942 - 7 Jan 1946 Served Overseas 10 Dec 1943 - 29 Dec 1945 Buried in State Road Cemetery LESTER CARL SHAW (SRGP 12911) Lester Carl Shaw, 69, of 375 N. Main Street, Mansfield died July 28, 1981 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Born November 18, 1911 in Richmond Township, he was the son of the late John H. Shaw and Mrs. Leda O. Shaw of the Carleton Nursing Home, Wellsboro. He was a member of the Mansfield Presbyterian Church; Friendship Lodge F & AM, Mansfield; World War II Army veteran serving in Guadal-canal and the Pacific Theatre of Operations and a retired mail carrier with 43 years of service. Mr. Shaw was a 1929 graduate of Mansfield High School, an avid sportsman who raised championship beagles and a member of the Prospect Cemetery Board. Surviving are in addition to his mother, two sisters, Miss Martha E. Shaw of Philadelphia and Mrs. Esther Ferrer of Mansfield; three brothers, John H. of Milton, L.B. of East Syracuse, N.Y. and Edson of RD 3, Mansfield. Friends are invited to call at the Kuhl Funeral Home, Mansfield Thursday, July 30, 1981 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held there on Friday, July 31 at 1:30 p.m. with The Reverend Benjamin Nevin officiating. Burial will be in State Road Cemetery, Mainesburg. Masonic services will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening at 8:45 p.m. by Friendship Lodge, Mansfield. Of note from Burial Permit, cause of death, Acute massive myocardial infarction. |
