BREWER Geraldine (Smith) Age 80, a resident of Broad Acres Nursing Home, Wellsboro, PA, formerly of Millerton, PA, died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Broad Acres. Geraldine was the wife of the late Judson J. Brewer who died on June 26, 2003. She was born in Millerton, PA on July 4, 1925, a daughter of Walter and Nora (Stone) Smith. She was a member of the Roseville United Methodist Church. Geraldine is survived by a daughter, Laureen Copas of Corning, NY; two grandchildren, Joshua and Jeffrey Chavez of Denver, CO; a brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Ilene Smith of Elmira Heights, NY; and a sister, Myrtle Kennedy of Mansfield, PA. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Brewer, on February 16, 1970; and two brothers, Boyd and Wilbur Smith. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 5th, 2006, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will immediately follow the viewing at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the lay pastor, Ellen Bartholomew, officiating. Burial will be in the Roseville Community Cemetery, Roseville, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roseville United Methodist Church, Box 4118, Rte. 549, Mansfield, PA 16933. PENNSYLVANIANS MARRY IN CHURCH RITES Miss Geraldine Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Smith of Millerton, Pa., RD 2, was united in marriage with Judson J. Brewer, son of Mrs. Lyman Brewer of Millerton and the late Mr. Brewer, on Saturday, July 3, 1948. The ceremony was performed at 2 p.m. in the Roseville Baptist church by the Rev. Orey Crippen of East Smithfield. The double ring service was used. Mrs. Thomas Harris of Roseville, played traditional wedding music, and accompanied Mrs. Chester Kennedy who sang, "I Love You Truly," "Because" and "The Lord’s Prayer." The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin, styled with a sweetheart neckline, long pointed sleeves, fitted bodice and full skirt with a train. Her lace-edged fingertip veil hung from a tiara of pearlized orange blossoms. She wore a double strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom, and carried bouquet of white roses, tied with long white satin streamers. Mrs. Harry Trowbridge was her sister’s matron-of-honor. She was gowned in a floor length dress of teal blue sparkle marquisette with a matching shoulder length veil and carried a bouquet of red roses and baby’s breath. Attendants were : Mrs. Wilbur Andrews of Pine city, twin sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Donald Butcher of Sidney, another sister of the bridegroom. Mrs. Andrews wore a yellow marquisette gown with matching veil and carried talisman roses and baby’s breath. Mrs. Butcher wore a gown of aqua marquisette, matching veil, her bouquet was yellow roses and baby’s breath. Flower girls were Barbara and Erma Brewer, nieces of the bridegroom. They were dressed alike, in floor length pink organdy, with headbands of pink satin ribbons and net. They each carried baskets of pink and white flowers. Joseph Brewer of Millerton, was best man for his brother. Ushers were Boyd Smith and Wilbur Smith of Mansfield, Warren Smith, Elmira, brothers of the bride, and Grant Brewer of Millerton, brother of the bridegroom. The bride’s mother wore an aqua crepe gown with white accessories and a corsage of gardenias. The bridegroom’s mother wore a gray crepe dress with white accessories. She also wore a corsage of gardenias. A reception for 150 guests followed the ceremony in the church parlors, after which Mr. and Mrs. Brewer left for a trip to Niagara Falls, Buffalo and Canada. Mrs. Brewer is a graduate of the Mansfield Senior High School. Mr. Brewer attended Millerton High School and is now employed at the Remington Rand. Prenuptial parties were given by Mrs. Charles Cook, Mrs. Darwin Neal, Mrs. Lewis Holton and Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Smith. |
