SMITH Myrtle E. (Smith) Trowbridge Kennedy [SRGP 02048] 95, born June 10, 1917, passed to a better place Aug. 11, 2012, at the Bradford County Manor, Troy. Born at home on Bailey Creek Road, Rutland Township, Tioga County, and except for a brief time in Long Island, N.Y., when she was first married, she spent her entire life in Tioga County. Survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert W. and Mary L. (McClure) Trowbridge of Wellsboro, Donald W. and Brenda L. (House) Trowbridge of Blossburg; one son-in-law, Carl L. Matteson of Tioga; one stepson and step-daughter-in-law, Ronald and AnnJeanette Kennedy of Columbia Cross Roads; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Doris (Kennedy) and Wayne Straw of Lansing, N.Y., Lorene (Kennedy) and Robert Beals of Columbia Cross Roads; 11 grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, 33 step-great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; 26 step-great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter H. and Nora (Stone) Smith; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Boyd B. and E. Pearl Smith, Warren B. and Harriet Smith, Wilbur F. and Irene Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Judson and Geraldine (Smith) Brewer; infant sister, Iva Smith; an infant son, Richard H. Trowbridge; her daughter, Cheryl M. (Trowbridge) Matteson in 2009; her husband of 46 years and the father of her four children, Harrison B. Trowbridge, also on Aug. 11, 1979; and her second husband of 13 happy years, giving her a wonderful step-family, Gerald Kennedy in 2001. She was a devout Christian, belonging to the Roseville Baptist Church all the years she lived in the Roseville area, and was very active in the church activities. When she moved to Mansfield she joined the Canoe Camp Church of Christ where she was an active member until the recent years when her health didn't permit her to do so. She made many, many lifetime friends over the years, outliving too many of them. She was a farmer's wife for over 30 years until they sold the farm on Bailey Creek Road and moved to Mansfield, where she worked at Sour's Variety 5 & 10 until it closed, then worked as a cook at the Mansfield McDonalds when it first opened. She worked last at the Hilltop Fabric Store for her son &and daughter-in-law, Bob and Mary Trowbridge. Friends will be received at Wilston's Funeral Home 130 S. Main St. Mansfield, Wednesday, Aug. 15, noon – 2 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Deborah Casey officiating. Interment will follow at Watson Cemetery Roseville.
