Notes	SMITH - Nelson J. Smith, [SRGP 03649] aged 76 years, of Mansfield, died May 9 [1949]. He was a son of Lyman and Charlotte Welch Smith and was born Aug. 25, 1872, in Sullivan township. He graduated from Mansfield Normal School, now State Teachers College, in 1896 and taught for two years. June 16, 1897, he married Miss Edith Rose, of Sullivan. For the past 50 years Mr. Smith had resided in Mansfield, where he was associated with his father-in-law, the late Warren D. Rose, in the farm produce business for many years and was owner of the Smith Poultry Farm. Mr. Smith was a member of the State Road Baptist church and was a member of Friendship Lodge, F&AM. Besides his widow he is survived by a niece, Miss Edna Smith, of Mansfield, and several cousins. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Shaw & Robena Funeral Home, Rev. David J. Griffiths officiating; burial in Prospect cemetery with Masonic ceremonies. - Wellsboro Agitator, 18 May 1949
