SWEELY Listed on 04/29/04 Leigh C. Age 74, of 20 Park St., Box 13, Tioga, PA, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. He was born March 31, 1930 in Roseville, PA, the son of Fred and Cora Leisenring Sweely. He retired from Ingersoll-Rand, Painted Post, after 45 years of service, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tioga, was a member of the Tioga Vol. Fire Dept. for 50 years where he served in numerous positions including Fire Chief, President and Secretary. He was a Forest Fire Warden for over 35 years, founding member of the Tioga Co. Bass Anglers, served as secretary for Local 313 IEU for numerous years, was a member of the American Legion and Wellsboro Moose, and was an avid sportsman. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son and daughter-in-law, Curtin and Mary Sweely, RD, Lawrenceville, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Steve Saunders, Mansfield, PA; grandchildren, Leanne Robbins, Millerton,PA, Kristie Saunders, Mansfield, PA, Donavon Saunders, Mansfield, PA, Michelle Sweely, Elkton, MD; great-grandchildren, Katelynn Robbins, Millerton, PA, Andrew Robbins, Millerton, PA; sister, Marciel Holton, Horseheads, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Allen; brother, Keith Sweely; and grandson, Mark Saunders. Friends are invited to call at the Tioga Fire Hall, Tioga, PA, Saturday, May 1, 2004, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where funeral services will be held following calling hours at 2 p.m. Rev. Douglas Hodge officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Tioga, PA, where military honors will be accorded. The family respectfully declines flowers.
