Margaretta was a teacher at the time of her marriage and she was still teaching at the time of her daughter's marriage in 1955 and her son's marriage in 1964. Margaretta was the wife of the late Hiram W. Doud who passed away in 1960. She was born on February 28, 1908, a daughter of Daniel & Cora [Brown] Utter. Margaretta taught in a one room school in Lawrence Twp. and in Lawrenceville Elementary School and retired from R.B. Walter Elementary School. She was a member of East Lawrence Baptist Church. Margaretta enjoyed her family and in later years crocheted afghans. Margaretta is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Warren of Sarasota, FL; three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Doud PhD., of Pittsburgh, PA, Jerry & Marion Doud and Paul & Virginia Doud all of Lawrenceville, PA; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eliza Deming and Mary Miller. Friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 2, 1999 from 3-6 p.m. at the Scureman Funeral Home, Inc., 130 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA, and on Sunday, October 3, 1999 from 2-2:30 p.m. at the East Lawrence Baptist Church, East Lawrence Rd.., Lawrenceville, PA. Funeral Services will be held immediately following the viewing on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the church with the Rev. G. Victory Perry officiating.
