WELCH, Addie Mary [SRGP 4731] – Addie M. Prince, Mainesburg United Methodist Church member; age 102, passes away February 18, 1998 at Broad Acres Nursing Home, Wellsboro, PA. Funeral services were held Friday, February 20, 1998 at the Scureman Funeral Home in Mansfield, PA, Dr. James Bellamy of the Mainesburg United Methodist Church officiating. She was born in 1895 in Mainesburg, PA, daughter of Ellen Walker and John Ellis Welch. She was married December 6, 1923 in Alpine, NY, to Charles A. Prince who predeceased her, October 26, 1961. She and her husband maintained a home for many years in Alpine, NY while employed at Cornell University, Ithaca. After Mr. Prince’s death, she moved back to Mainesburg and later to Sherwood Manor, in Mansfield, PA. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mainesburg. Interment was in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Odessa, NY. Surviving family includes sister-in-law, Ethel Welch of Wellsboro, PA, formerly of Mainesburg, PA. 2 nephews, Paul [Bea] Welch of Ontario, Canada and Duane [June] Welch of Big Flats, NY; niece MaryEllen Decker Repalee of Odessa, NY, Ruth Welch, widow of nephew Robert Welch, and several grand nieces and nephews. She had many friends in the Mainesburg and Mansfield area, in Alpine, in Florida, and 2 very close friends, Helena Green and Ruth Martindale of Galeton, PA. Donations in Addie’s memory may be made to the United Methodist Church, Mainesburg, PA. – Elmira Star-Gazette, NY, 24 February 1998, Tuesday, p.16 |
