She was a daughter of the late Homer and Lydia Wilson and had lived most of her life in the vicinity of Mansfield. She was a member of the Mansfield Baptist Church, Elizabeth Rebekah Lodge, DLS Club, Republican Council and WCTU of Mansfield. She had been on the staff of the Mansfield Advertiser for 43 years. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Wilson of Mansfield and four cousins. "Glenna" as she was affectionately known by the entire town was beloved by all and her Monday trips through town gathering news had become a looked-for part of the week. Her fondness for animals and kindness to them had become a tradition in the community and many turned to her to help rescue a pet. Glenna was always ready with a smile and help for those around her and never asked help nor complained of her own lot in life. She will be greatly missed from her accustomed place in the town and form her newspaper office. - Mansfield Advertiser, 19 May 1956, p.1 |
