188 South Main Street Residence of Jesse Miller Clark & Minnie Cogswell who traded it for 60 N. Main in 1898. Built by Charles L. Strait. Later owned by Schanbachers, now made into apartments by Wooleys Fire damage in back part December 2020 since repaired 11th May 1898 Mr. J.M. Clark has exchanged his dwelling-house property, corner Elmira and Main Streets (60 North Main), with Mr. C.L. Strait for his larger house and grounds on (188) South Main Street. Possession is to be given June 1st. The deal was made Monday evening. The cash difference received by Mr. Strait is understood to be a little less than $3,000. There are several hundred ducks and other fowls on the Strait place, together with numerous incubators, etc., all of which are included in the exchange. C. L. Strait Mansfield Advertiser 25th May 1898 The Clark house, recently purchased by Mr. C.L. Strait, is being wired for electric lights. Mr. J.S. Hoard has also had his house wired. |
