Four years later he became assistant manager in the crude rubber purchasing department, a job he held until taking over as manager in 1957. During World War II, Goodyear loaned Mr. Bogardus to the Government. An executive vice-president of the Rubber Development Corp., part of U.S. Reconstruction Finance Corp., he was instrumental in keeping the war effort on wheels.
