Army Served 23 May 1917 - 28 March 1919 Served Overseas 7 Aug 1917 - 13 March 1919 BRIGGS, Harry [SRGP 16264] - Harry Briggs, aged 45 years, of Wellsboro, died at 11:35 Friday night at his home on the Stonyfork Road, after a long illness. He was born Feb. 1, 1891, at Mansfield, son of Mr. & Mrs. E.R. Briggs. Mr. Briggs is survived by his parents; his widow, Mrs. Mertelle Stevens Briggs; three daughters, Elizabeth, Loretta and Harriet; two sisters, Mrs. W.P. Horton of Corning; Mrs. R.W. Wilson of Mansfield, and a brother, W.J. Briggs of Huntington, W. Va. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Baptist church, IOOF, American Legion and Letter Carriers' Association. He was graduated from Mansfield State Teachers College in 1910, and also from the Westbrook Commercial College at Olean, NY, serving on the faculty for several years after graduation. He was for several years an employee of the Wellsboro post office and served as local Civil Service secretary. He was highly esteemed by all who knew him. The funeral was held Monday at the Evans Funeral Home, Rev. C.W. Sheriff and Rev. E.
