Army Served 14 Aug 1918 - 7 Feb 1919 Erie Schoolboard Training Det Hdg Co 58th Field Artillery Co 4 153 Depot Brig Buried in Prospect Cemetery in Mansfield, PA KILLGORE - William Fay Killgore, 87, [SRGP 82333]of Trask Trailer Court, RD3, Mansfield, died Thursday, July 5, 1984 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Born Dec. 23, 1896 at Elmira Heights, NY, he was a son of William H. and Emma Sluyter Killgore. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mansfield, a charter member of the American Legion Post No. 478, Mansfield and a life member of the Mansfield Hose Company. Mr. Killgore had driven a school bus in the Mansfield area for 37 years. Along with his father, William H. Killgore, he had owned and operated what is now the Wells & Goodall Garage in Mansfield. He retired in 1962 as custodian at the Mansfield Armory after 24 years. His wife, the former Helen Cass, died in July 1968. Surviving are one son, Robert Killgore of Allentown, Pa., one sister, Edna Lawrence of Columbia, Maryland, one grandson, William Robert Killgore Jr. of Sellersville, Pa., and several nieces and nephews. Friends were invited to call at the Scureman Funeral Home, Mansfield on Sunday, July 8, 1984 from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral was held there Monday, July 9 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. James T. Dawes, his pastor, officiating. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery, Mansfield. - Wellsboro Gazette, 11 July 1984 |
