SSDI, 1935-2014 James Preston [SRGP 91228] - b. 21 September 1910; d. June 1985; Last Residence - Wellsboro, Tioga County; SSN - 183095520 issued PA before 1951 PRESTON, James W. [SRGP 91228] - Long time Mansfield businessman James W. Preston, age 74, a resident of the Green Home in Wellsboro died on Friday, June 14, 1985, in the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Born September 21, 1910, at Canton, he was the son of John J. and Eva Sharp Preston. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Mansfield. Mr. Preston was manager of Preston Department Store until it closed in 1970. He was a past president of the former Blossburg State Hospital board of directors. He was a member of the Friendship Lodge #247, F&AM, and the Corey Creek Golf Club, Mansfield. Mr. Preston was an army veteran of World War II. He is survived by cousins, Phyllis and Manley Preston, of Canton, PA. The funeral was held Monday at Scureman's, 130 South Main Street, Mansfield, with Rev. Rudolph J. Vander Hiel, his pastor, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. - Wellsboro Gazette, 19 June 1985, p.12 |
