RUSSELL - Edward C. Russell, 64, of Mansfield, died at his home Sunday, November 11, 1956. Burgess of Mansfield for 11 years, he was the only All-American football player to come from the Mansfield area. In 1916 he graduated at the University of Pennsylvania and was All-American in 1915. Born in Blossburg, he was the son of Edward L. and Eugenia Miller Russell. For several years he was football coach and advisor at Mansfield State Teachers College. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Mansfield. He was a member of Lodge 247 F&AM, the Williamsport Consistory, Laurel Hill Game and Forestry Club, a past commander of the American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eleanor Elliott Russell; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Falk of Millersville, and Miss Barbara Ann Russell of Mansfield; one son, Edward C., Jr., of Coudersport; his mother, Mrs. Eugenia Miller Russell of Mansfield; and two grandsons. Rev. Daniel J. Stover conducted the services on Tuesday. Burial was in Arbon Cemetery, Blossburg.
